Rembrandt etchings (exhibition photographs)

Post by Tarbram (@tropicalcamatte), 2026-10-24

What it is, and who made it

Four phone photos of framed Rembrandt etchings, one through a magnifying glass: deep blacks, light falling in shafts.

Parts, layer by layer

The framework behind it

Etching: acid bites lines through a wax ground into the plate (erosion), ink settles in the bitten lines (sedimentation) and transfers under pressure. Tone comes from line density, as in our intaglio canon.

Dual edge

None; public-domain prints. Photos are the sharer's.
