100hyakunen, bookshop rooms drawn as a mosaic of marks

Post by 古本屋 百年 (@100hyakunen), 2026-10-25

What it is, and who made it

Two pen drawings of a person browsing in a room of bookshelves. The shelves fill the frame; each run of books is drawn as one repeated mark. Pale-green pencil perspective guides sit under the ink.

Parts, layer by layer

The framework behind it

A mosaic whose tiles are marks, not colours: each tile carries a texture that stands for a kind of thing. It is a legend made of drawing, the same idea as a map's hatch patterns.

The same idea in distant fields

Dual edge

Marks as categories invite reading meaning where none is fixed; a legend must travel with them. The drawings are someone's work; we take the mark idea, not the drawings.
